I have been attending CNYC (City Core Neighborhood Youth Coop) for 3 to 4 years since 2015. I went to main school prior to my arrival to CNYC after struggling to stay in class and t hat is when I discovered CNYC. I have learned an extreme amount after becoming a Youth and have met such amazing and kind people, I also attended some of their classes that other Youth go to although I much preferred to work in their Wood Shop where I learned how to construct items such as picture frames, stools, benches, fences, drums, bedside lamps, cabinets, yoga blocks, etc. I spent most of my time in the Wood Shop where my mentor and close friend Mike Fulop taught me everything he knows and took me on various outings to help our community, via doing yard work, repairing fences, installing new windows, doors, and dropping items built in the shop off to people who had paid for them. I enjoyed working and was more than happy to help around The Core and participated in as much programming as possible. The Youth and Staff are always so friendly and outgoing I have grown to love attending CNYC every day I just can’t seem to get enough of the place and adore sharing laughs with my fellow Youth and Staff and going on field trips with them. If anyone were to ask me about CNYC and tell me that they are thinking of attending there I’d say: “Go for it.” Because it truly is a safe Haven for new youth, they have so much to offer our community that other places don’t and that is why I believe CNYC is a great place to learn and grow.
